Use keyboard shortcuts to quickly perform tasks

Application Wizard lets you define keyboard shortcuts to quickly perform frequent tasks by pressing keys on your keyboard. You can for instance use keyboard shortcuts to quit all running applications, or switch back to the previous application, or turn single application mode on and off.

To define a keyboard shortcut for a task:

  1. Open the Application Wizard pane in System Preferences and click Keyboard Shortcuts.

  2. Choose a task and select its checkbox in the Active column to enable the keyboard shortcut.

  3. Double-click the empty space in the Shortcut column and press the key combination you want to use.

Key combinations including a function key, arrow key, or keypad key do not require modifier keys (Shift, Control, Option, or Command). All the other key combinations must contain at least one modifier key. Keypad keys appear in square brackets [ ] so that you can distinguish them.

To clear a keyboard shortcut:

Double-click the key combination in the Shortcut column and press the Delete key.
